I have a special guest for you here today. I’d like to give a huge welcome to Shiloh on the blog. Thanks for appearing Shiloh and supporting the blog by being on it.

Everyone Loves a Cowboy

I would like to thank Daisy for sharing her blog with me today. I’m here to talk about a subject near and dear to my heart: cowboys. I think cowboys have always been popular, but it seems to me there are more and more cowboy romances published these days—both gay and straight. Are vampires out and cowboys in?

Those of you who know me know that I primarily write GLBT romance. When Eva asked me to co-write a M/M bull riding story I jumped at the chance! The truth is I’ve been thinking about writing a M/M cowboy story for a while and this just gave me the excuse to go ahead and do it. This was my first plunge away from the comforts of my historical genre and let me tell you it was a lot of fun.

I am a huge PBR (Professional Bull Riders not Pabst Blue Ribbon) fan. I even dragged Eva to a local PBR event for research purposes. She said I could keep all the bull snot for myself. As long as it comes with cowboys in tight fitting blue jeans I don’t mind. *grin*

Why do I love cowboys?

1. Cowboys have muscles and they earned those muscles through hard work.

2. Cowboys offer you respect and work to earn your respect.

3. Cowboys look for quality, whether it’s in cattle, horses or their choice in a partner.

4.  Cowboys will do whatever it takes to support his family and those he loves whether they are people or animals.

5. Cowboys aren’t afraid to take risks every day, but they are calculated risks backed by a skill set.

Perfect-Ride300x450[1]

Here is a little snippet from the two cowboys in Perfect Ride:

“There he is.” Cole put a foot up on the lower slat of the fence and rested his arms on the upper. “Take a good look at him while he’s standing still. You won’t see him like this in the ring.”

He eyed the bull with respect. He stood out from the rest of the top ten. Spitfire was big, over 1,600 pounds of pure cream-colored power, topped with foot-and-a-half long horns. The way Spitfire eyed him and began to dig at the ground like he wanted to test the limits of the temporary fence sent a shiver up his spine. He’d have to be careful with this one. He gave Cole a sidelong look and studied the man as he watched his bull.

He liked the sandy blond stubble dusting the man’s chin and cheek. Liked the way his lips were wide and meaty and showed a bit of wear at the edges, betraying either late-night trysts or the tendency to chew on them as he worried. Garrett voted for the latter. Oh, he could picture Cole bent over taking it from another man easily enough, but the thought made him instantly jealous so he squelched the notion. With nowhere to set his still full plate, he perched it on the top of a post. “You keep a pretty close watch on him?”

Cole nodded. “He’s a rebellious one. An escape artist, too. A little too smart for his britches. Someday he’ll end up in the slaughter house if he’s not careful.”

Garrett laughed and slapped the dust off his thigh, the motion garnering Cole’s attention. The heat of Cole’s gaze flushed him warm all over. He couldn’t help but engage in a little appreciation of his own. His tongue wetted his lips as he took in the round curve of Cole’s ass, his narrow hips, up his wide work-chiseled chest and finally his face. He watched the man’s gaze blaze hotter as he brushed his hand closer to his groin. “That’d be a waste if you ask me.”

Cole swallowed and snapped his attention back up, his eyes shining. “Yes, it would be. A real shame.”

Blurb:

Professional bull rider Garrett Anderson lives for the next town, the next trophy and his next ride. When he rolls into Sheridan, Wyoming, the last thing he expected was to meet a cowboy like Cole—a man who corrals his heart and leaves him aching for a love he never realized he’d been missing.

Surrounded by hate, Cole Richards wasn’t prepared for Garrett’s passion or the longing their night together leaves him with. But when he’s shot, and stuck in his hospital bed, Cole watches every second of Garrett’s disastrous ride, and is heartbroken when the battered and bruised bull rider leaves town.

Attacked again and knee-deep in trouble, Cole wants only Garett at his side. But can his bull rider trade fame and fortune for a lifetime with his one perfect ride?

Sexy Shirtless Cowboy

Wait I have more cowboys!

Co-writing Perfect Ride inspired me to finish the M/M cowboy story which had been burning a hole in my brain. Country Crush was released by Secret Cravings Publishing the day before Perfect Ride came out. I almost had twins!

Blurb:

Country singer Will Conrad is afraid coming out will tank his career. Being a celebrity makes it difficult to pick up a man and keep things secret. A gay one night stand online dating site is his salvation. While he is performing in Las Vegas he agrees to meet the real cowboy with whom he has been corresponding.

A car accident left championship team roper Blake Bonner with a paralyzed leg and a wounded heart. Now fully recovered, he is ready for a relationship, but will his blind date want to be topped by a cripple and will he treat him like a whole man?

When Blake finds out his date is Will Conrad he can’t believe it. He’s been his country crush since he hit the country music scene. But when the paparazzi catch them together will their burgeoning relationship be able to brave the media storm?

Country Crush Excerpt:

“He is expecting you,” she said, and then disappeared around the corner without another word.

Heart hammering his rib cage, Blake rubbed his sweaty palms on the sides of his jeans. There was nothing to be nervous about. It wasn’t like his national title was on the line—just his pride. The young woman hadn’t said his date was waiting for him, but he could tell by the look in her eyes and her knowing smile he was. Finally he was going to meet the man he’d been emailing and texting and calling for months. His middle squeezed.

Accepting his disability online was one thing, in person it was a totally different matter. There were still days when Blake woke up and cussed out his useless leg. Here goes nothing.

Taking a deep breath, he opened the door wider and found himself face-to-face with Will Conrad.

Blake’s mouth dropped open, but no words came. There had to be some mistake. Maybe everyone with a backstage pass got to meet Mr. Conrad.

The country music singer’s gaze swept over him, and he stuck out his chest, his nipples stiffening under the scrutiny. Blake instantly felt the heat between them. Conrad’s eyes held appreciation, lust, and steamy sensuality with a hint of submissive. Dear God, his celebrity crush was gay.

Conrad’s gaze swept lower and Blake’s cock hardened all the way. Conrad eyed the bulge and licked his lips. After a second, his head snapped up and he met his eyes, offering his hand. “Name’s Will Conrad.” A playful grin spread across his face. “Of course, by the twinge of shock in your eyes I think you knew that.”

Blake gave his hand a firm shake. “You’re Cowboy66?” he choked out.

“Uh-huh.”

Conrad walked past him and shut the door. “I saw you sitting in the front row. You looked like just how you described.”

Blake’s cheeks burned. “Complete with crutches,” he muttered.

Conrad laughed. “You look all man to me.”

Blake’s blush spread down his neck. “Thank you, Mr. Conrad.”

“Call me Will.” He pressed his hand against Blake’s chest. “After tonight we’ll know each other intimately.”

A lump formed in Blake’s throat and had difficulty swallowing or finding words.

“Uh, and I’m Blake.”

Will pushed Blake’s hat back farther on his head. Their lips were close and for a moment Blake’s pulse skidded. Was he going to kiss him?

“I get ogled by women all the time,” Will said, “but I seldom get such a heated gaze from a man.”

Will stepped back, breaking contact with him.

Damn the man was a tease. The way his cock throbbed he didn’t need much foreplay to be ready.

“I gravitated to your side of the stage just so I could get a better look at you.”

“I thought…oh.”

“Your dark brown eyes roaming my body made me hot all over. I’m glad I was under the stage lights to hide my fever. The way you looked at me, Blake, I really liked it.”
